Specifically developed for road racing, track use and performance road riding, the FIM homologated Tech-Air® 7x system is derived from the Airbag technology tested by Alpinestars in MotoGP.
This fully autonomous airbag system is designed for racing and offers riders low-profile, highly ventilated Tech-Air® protection.
Developed for performance and leisure motorcycling, the Tech-Air® 7x offers riders complete upper body protection covering the shoulders, chest and entire back.
The integrated back protector is extended for extra protection of the coccyx.
The Tech-Air® 7x system can be used as a stand-alone system or as part of a compatible suit or jacket.
The system is designed for closed-course racing, as well as road and light off-road riding.
The state-of-the-art Tech-Air® 7x system features active electronics with twelve integrated sensors: 3 triaxial accelerometers (1 positioned on the back protector and 2 positioned on the shoulders) and 1 triaxial gyroscope (located in the back protector).
These sensors monitor the rider's body to detect shocks or unexpected movements.
Developed over years of research in collaboration with over 50% of the world's top MotoGP riders and Alpinestars customers using Tech-Air® systems, our team has analysed riding data from millions of kilometres and thousands of accidents to continually improve the system's intelligent crash detection algorithms.
As soon as a collision situation is identified, which occurs when the rider's body is subjected to a high and/or sudden amount of energy, the algorithm triggers the deployment of the protective airbag, offering unrivalled protection to the rider or passenger wearing the system (with a maximum inflation time of 44 ms, depending on the volume and size of the airbag).
Impact absorption when the airbag is inflated reduces the force of impact by up to 90% compared with a CE level 1 passive protector.
Tech-Air 7X driving modes: Street and Race
The Tech-Air® 7x system comes preloaded with two different riding modes: RACE mode for driving on closed circuits and STREET mode for driving on and off-road.
Users can easily switch from Race to Street mode simply by using the Tech-Air® application.
The system should always be operated in Street mode when used on public roads and NOT on a closed circuit.
Riders should always remember to switch from Race to Street mode when leaving the circuit, to ensure that they are fully protected, even when stopped at traffic lights, junctions or for any other reason.
Airbag protection at standstill is only provided by the Street mode algorithm.
